讲座内容/ Abstract:
The increased concerns over climate change, global warming, and energy security have led to increased use of renewable energy resources over the last years. Via using a threshold model with endogeneity, we uncover several important findings: (1)The impact of renewable energy consumption on economic growth is positive and significant only when developing or non-OECD countries exceed a specific threshold of renewable energy use. (2)Democratic institutions significantly influence renewable energy consumption, with higher economic growth leading to increased renewable energy usage in countries with stronger democratic rights. (3)Increased renewable energy consumption reduces CO2 emissions per capita only when countries exceed a certain threshold of renewable energy use. (4)Green innovation lowers energy intensity only when countries meet a specific threshold of institutional quality.
